Norton- looking for TT glory
The British marque will use the Abingdon-based company’s ceramic coatings and ZircoFlex ceramic, aluminium-backed heatshield material to control heat on the exhaust, airbox, bodywork and rear shock absorber on its SG2 prototypes for the Isle of Man races.

“We are delighted to enter into a partnership with such an iconic British manufacturer,” comments Peter Whyman, Zircotec’s sales and marketing director. “The Norton name is synonymous with the TT and we are very excited to be working closely with the works team as it prepares for the 2014 event.”

After an initial shakedown at Bruntingthorpe, the Norton team will travel to Spain for an official test programme.   As part of the technical agreement, Norton engineers will record results during its test programme and make them available to Zircotec.  The recording of performance data in extreme thermal environments will aid the development of new products for the coatings specialist.

Norton plans to enter two machines in the Senior TT and Superbike TT, the blue riband races of the famous Isle of Man TT, held between 24 May and 6 June.

Zircotec offers a wide range of plasma-sprayed ceramic and metallic coatings that protect components against the effects of heat, wear, abrasion and corrosion.
