NEWS: UK'S KNOX REACTS TO BREXIT

KNOX REACTS TO BREXIT

British Dealer News is the best place for motorcycle industry news

While Britons were going to the polls to vote in the EU Referendum on Thursday 23 June, Aaron and Margaret Travell from Cockermouth-based protection and clothing manufacturer Knox were in Germany, doing their bit for British exports.

"It was ironic that we had the chance to meet with major German retailer Polo Motorrad on referendum day" says Aaron, a director and shareholder at Knox. "It's been a great day and hopefully the start of a great relationship."

The team set off from their base in the Lake District at 3.30 am, flying from Manchester to Dusseldorf and then driving to Polo's massive head offices. The meeting lasted seven hours and Travell emerged tired but delighted by the German retail giant's reaction to the Knox range of clothing and protection.

And how does he feel about the referendum result? "One of the things we discussed at the meeting was how easy it is to do business inside Europe - you just stick a label on a box and send it. We hope that the decision to leave the EU won't mean a return to the customs forms and tariffs of the old days that make export trade more difficult."

He remains positive about the future. "Knox is a UK brand with UK manufacturing and we are growing at an extraordinary level, both in export and in the UK. We will continue to drive this growth through innovation, great products that work for the end user and hard work. However, Brexit may mean we have to pedal harder again to retain our growth level and we ask dealers to support us at this time as a British manufacturer and British-owned brand. Customers will want to support British industry and it will be important for dealers to respond to that enthusiasm."

JOB: Sales professional required

 SALES PROFESSIONAL

CONTACT DETAILS: DIRECTORS@GRANDPRIXLEGENDS.COM

We’re looking for someone special Aren’t we all, you might say? More specifically, however, we’re looking for sales professionals for our Guildford-based clothing store.
Motolegends is a high-profile seller of the best-quality, most technical and most stylish motorcycle apparel on the market. We offer our customers a level of attention that, at its best, borders on a ‘personal-shopping’ experience, and we need to find the right people to help us deliver our proposition.

We’re looking for full-time and part-time staff. You don’t need to have worked in the clothing sector, although such a background might be helpful. More important is an enthusiasm for all things motorcycling, and a determination to ensure that no customer walks out of the door without a smile on his or her face.

Our little shop is almost certainly the busiest of its kind in the country, so high energy levels are required. We’re open seven days a week, as well as nearly every Bank Holiday. In the week, we don’t close until 7.00pm or 8.00pm. And clearly everybody has to do their bit.

But the work is fun. Our customers are interesting. They are perhaps older and, in the main, more stylish, more knowledgeable, more confident and more affluent than you’ll find in most bike clothing shops. But they are perhaps more demanding, and they expect an outstanding level of service, especially as we don’t do deals or discounts.

If you’re interested in joining our team, we’d like to hear from you. Please send a letter and CV to directors@grandprixlegends.com. Salary will not be an issue, but is dependent upon experience.
