Steve Parrish MAD show tour continues...

BBC commentator, ex-motorcycle and truck racer and eternal practical joker Steve Parrish (Stavros) continues to tour the UK with his MAD theatre show, MAD standing for My Adolescent Dad and starring his long-suffering daughter Frankie.

British Dealer News is the best place for motorcycle industry news

MAD is billed as a "completely different, colourful, humorous and, at times daring portrayal of this man's career".

Steve Parrish raced at the highest level of motorcycle racing, becoming British champion in 1976 and fifth in the 1977 500cc world championship, as team mate to that year's champion Barry Sheene.

Barry who met Steve in 1975 is quoted as saying: "If he was to set up his bike as well as his victims and had put as much effort into the bike as he did the intricate pranks he pulled on people he would certainly have been a World Champion."

Parrish is also co-hosting, with ex-race Jamie Whitham, the Blackhorse stage entertainment at Motorcycle Live, which opens tomorrow and runs until 6 December at the NEC, Birmingham.

With the show opening an hour earlier on Friday, Saturday(s) and Sunday(s) this means stage activity will be running for even longer - more interviews, more celebrities, more games and more prizes.

Each day there will be a host of riders and celebrities interviewed on the main stage, across a spectrum of BSB, WSB, Moto GP, Speedway, and TT disciplines. Riders will be on hand for signing sessions and photo opportunities.

The 2016 MAD tour dates are:

Date:                           Venue:                                                            Time:
5 Feb            The Princess Theatre, Burnham on sea                      19.30hrs

21 Feb          Norden Farm Arts, Maidenhead                                 19.30hrs
28 Feb          The Watermark, Ivybridge                                         19.30hrs

26 May         Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds                                19.30hrs

BDN columnist Mike Jackson said of the show: "The best of many hilarious stories were the infamous practical jokes that somehow went pear-shaped; genuinely, I've not laughed so much for years"

Johnny Depp want to make Doohan film

Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp has said he wants to make a documentary about racing legend Mick Doohan. Depp announced his plan after he, his wife and, notoriously, his dogs, stayed with the five-times 500cc GP world champion at his mansion on the Australian Gold Coast. The actor/producer was in Australia filming the latest instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.

British Dealer News is the best place for motorcycle industry news

Depp stayed at Doohan’s place for five months - during which time Depp had to repatriate his "quarantine criminal" dogs - and clearly grew fond of the former Honda GP man, saying: “I want to a documentary about him, he’s a wonderful man.”

Doohan won the coveted title five times in the 1990s, an era where the 500cc two-stroke GP motorcycles had no rider aids of electronics and made awesome power in a tiny rev-range.

A film would certainly help the motorcycle industry cause!

NEWS: LIFE-SIZE CHOCOLATE MOTORBIKE-CAKE AT CAROLE NASH BASH

LIFE-SIZE CHOCOLATE MOTORBIKE-CAKE AT CAROLE NASH BASH

A life-size replica of a motorcycle made entirely from cake and chocolate was the centre-point at a party to celebrate the 30th birthday of motorcycle insurance broker Carole Nash over the weekend.

British Dealer News is the best place for motorcycle industry news

The chocolate bike was unveiled at the event, held at Manchester's Imperial War Museum on Saturday night, 7 November.

Measuring two metres in length and nearly one metre tall, the unique creation is modelled on the motorcycle Carole Nash first insured back in 1985 - an AJS 1927 - which to this day is still insured through the company.

Pictured cutting the cake are Carole Nash, CEO David Newman and AJS owner Ivan Rhodes.

Also to mark its birthday, the company created a special tribute video looking back at how the company started from Carole at her dining room table, to the strong 300-plus workforce that they employ today.

The video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDGGeLmx6m8&feature=youtu.be
