Well-known Gosport specialist off-road dealership Trevor Pope Motorcycles has become the victim of yet another bike theft gang. Raiders broke into its showroom on the town’s Forton Road at around 11pm on 21 February and stole four machines — a trio of KTM 250 SX-F motocrossers and a KTM 450 EXC-F enduro bike.
Hampshire Constabulary believes the bikes were taken off Forton Road, the main A32, down a nearby quieter side-turning Leonard Road, and presumably loaded into a van there. PC Tyler Dutson, the officer handling this investigation, has made an appeal for witnesses: “We are keen to find out who these people are, which roads they took and if they used any other vehicles in the burglary. We would also like to hear from anyone who has since seen these distinctive-looking motorbikes.”
Trevor Pope Motorcycles, run by husband-and-wife team Trevor and Sandra, and employing a further seven staff, is the second Hampshire target for a robbery of this type in the past few months. Cheriton-based Winchester Off-Road Honda, sharing premises with sister business Husky Sport, was ram-raided last November — losing six bikes.
Anyone with information should call 101, quoting crime reference number 44190063874.
