NEWS: THE MIKE HANSON COLLECTION

DAH auctions has been asked to auction, without reserve, the collection of veteran and vintage motorcycles collected by Mike Hanson before his unfortunate dementia overtook him. The collection majors on early and rare machinery from the dawn of motorcycles until the 1930s, with a large amount of projects and rare spare parts. They will be sold as part of the 2 March Classic Car & Motorcycle Auction at Sledmere House, East Riding of Yorkshire.



There are several early Rover projects including engine number 162, dating from c.1904, there is an unrecorded Whitley of Coventry engine in frame, a c.1909 Fafnir engine in a frame, a c.1921 Matchless H2 engine, various early gearboxes, magnetos, tinware and wheels. Among complete bikes are a 1927 Sunbeam Model 9, 493 cc estimated at £6000/£8000, and a 1930 Velocette KTP at £5000/£6000.



From other vendors are a 1960 matching numbers, BSA DBD34 Goldstar, estimate £15,000/£20,000 and a 1912 Rover 3 1/2hp at £10,000/£15,000.
