A statement by the company said: “It is with regret that we have to inform our customers that Phil will be absent from his desk at Powerbiking for some considerable time due to him being hospitalised through injury.

“A burglar entered our shop with the intent to steal a large amount of goods. However, before he could get away with his haul, he was spotted by one of our eagle-eyed staff who promptly notified his colleagues, and working as a team they swiftly took action in an attempt to apprehend this person — which they eventually did very successfully — but not before this man had displayed how extremely aggressive he was and that it was his intent to hurt anyone or damage anything within his reach.

“It was during this outburst that Phil was dragged through the fence on the far side of the car park causing him to fall down a steep drop and into the river - thus resulting in his current injuries. At the moment we are aware he has fractures to his ribs and vertebrae.

British Dealer News would like to wish Phil a speedy recovery, and well done to the team for getting another bike thief off the streets.
