The Collington Works was home to the famous Slater brothers, Richard and Roger, who were the UK importers of Laverda from 1970. In the mid-seventies Roger, a keen racer, extensively modified his own 3C and the result was so effective he suggested to the factory that there might be a small UK market for something similar. The outcome was the Laverda Jota which went on to become their largest-selling model and a worldwide icon.
