Fancy yourself on Buddy Holly's 1958 650 Ariel Cyclone British twin? That'll be the day! But it could be yours. To buy it, get yourself to the Guernsey's auction on Sunday 5 October at the Musical Instrument Museum, Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
The sale is dedicated to that late Waylon Jennings (1937-2002) who was given the bike in 1979. Jennings was a member of Holly's backing group, The Crickets.
Guernsey's say the machine has done only 4000 miles and is in fine condition, though not run for 20 years.
No estimate is listed at this stage. We note that the seat and silencers have been changed since the home movie footage showing Holly with the bike in 1958.
Holly (1936-1959) bought the red and black Ariel new from Ray Miller's Motorcycles, Dallas, Texas. Only 200 were made. Auction details: 001 212 794 2280 www.guernseys.com
